Meet Kelsey Johnson

March 30, 2020

PRODUCTION CONTROL SPECIALIST

Kelsey Johnson has been with Jet AirWerks for 2 years & has quickly become a leader in the shop. She oversees the flow of parts through the shop & helps JAW maintain our low turnaround times.

Kelsey was born in Oklahoma & is red dirt proud. She is a huge Harry Potter fan & loves fantasy, sci-fi, action, comedy & horror media. In her free time, she likes to take weekend road trips, watch movies, going to concerts, float trips & camp.

She also enjoys playing with her dogs, Smeagol, Ginger & Lucas.

We asked Kelsey some questions to learn a little more about her.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?

Country Mart Cashier when I was 16 years old.

WHAT WAS YOUR BEST JOB (OTHER THAN JAW)?

Probably Pizza Hut delivery driver… getting paid to drive, lol.

WHAT WERE YOUR HOBBIES AS A KID?

Well my Momma said that my favorite things to do were coloring/ arts and crafts. I was a tom boy. If the boys could do it I sure as heck was gonna do it to. I do believe her words were "tom boy dare devil".

WHAT IS A TYPICAL WORKDAY LIKE FOR YOU?

Hmmm… well strap on your running shoes!!! A typical day at JAW for me consist of mapping out people's days then telling them what they need to work on and what needs to be done; fixing issues with parts; building team and self confidence in others; and training our staff. Basically keeping the chaos under control.

WHO HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE IN YOUR CAREER?

As a preteen on, I would say it was my sister Terri. She started at GE at 20 years old traveling around the world fixing engines. She was her own person and didn't need a man to take care of her. I wanted to follow in her footsteps to be like that.

WHAT ARE THREE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU?

Outgoing, caring, leader.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE WOMEN ENTERING THIS FIELD OR STARTING THEIR CAREERS?

Chin up and charge the mountain. If a man can do it, I promise you can do it too. Probably better.

IF WE WENT TO HAPPY HOUR, WHAT WOULD YOU ORDER?

Route 44 Dr. Pepper with vanilla and cherry.

WHAT ARE SOME CAUSES YOU CARE ABOUT?

I know they say no child left behind, but I say no animal left behind. I also care strongly about civil rights.

HOW DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO REMEMBER YOU?

When I'm gone, I want people to remember the good times we had and the emotions we shared.

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL A 10-YEAR-OLD YOU?

Listen to your momma and daddy. They are completely right!!!

WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL MOTTO?

Love your face. I don’t know if that counts as a motto or more of a tag line. Things will always look better in the morning light.
